What is the goal here?
A friend asked me today what the end goal of all this was. This is what I told him: The aim is to destroy as many parts of the government as possible, as fast as possible, to make the country a Christian nationalist oligarchy. Trump wants to make a world in which he can act with complete impunity, where there is no accountability or consequence to his actions. And, he wants to be able to imprison / kill anyone who disagrees with them. If I had to choose one primary goal, it would be complete and utter revenge.
If we break it down into layers, it might look something like this:
1. Primary Goal: Control
At the heart of authoritarian projects is always control—over narrative, law, culture, resources, and bodies. This includes:
- Control of truth (propaganda, disinfo)
- Control of law (judicial nullification, executive impunity)
- Control of bodies (detentions, surveillance, forced birth, medical denial)
- Control of the future (educational control, demographic engineering)
2. Instrumental Goal: Revenge
Trump, in particular, is driven by grievance. His enemies list is personal, and this regime is built not only to consolidate power but to punish those who have humiliated, challenged, or constrained him—judges, journalists, women, immigrants, dissenters, universities, blue states.
3. Ideological Goal: Christian Nationalist Oligarchy
The ideological layer, shared by many around him, is the vision of a theocratic, hierarchical, white-patriarchal state:
- Wealth controlled by a loyalist elite
- Christianity fused with state power
- Gender and racial hierarchies enforced
- Dissent reframed as sin, not just disloyalty
4. Operational Goal: State Collapse and Privatization
Much of DOGE and Musk’s playbook centers on:
- Collapsing regulatory frameworks
- Transferring public power to private hands
- Creating legal chaos so accountability is impossible
This creates a fog where power can move unimpeded and citizens can't orient themselves.
So yes—revenge may be the spark, but the structure being built is much colder and more permanent. A system where control becomes self-reinforcing.
It's not just about power—it’s about power without consequence. And that’s the most dangerous kind.
